On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, Jerry Ethridge Armstrong, loving husband to Yvonne Armstrong, went to be with our Lord and Savior, at the age of 78. Jerry was born in Bastrop, Louisiana, on October 31, 1946, to Walter (Foxy) and Helen (Bolin) Armstrong. Jerry grew up in Bonita, Louisiana and graduated from Bonita High School in 1964.
Jerry worked several jobs over the years from Olin Paper Mill and Armstrong’s Hardware before retiring from Newcomer and Son Heating and Air Conditioning. Jerry loved spending time with Yvonne traveling to Italy, Glacier Park, Austria, dancing, photography, playing Bridge with friends.
Jerry was an easy-going guy who would do anything for anyone. He was a loyal son who spent many hours with his mother as her health deteriorated. He liked to joke and tease and had an endearing smile.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 23 years, Yvonne Wise Armstrong, son Mark J. Armstrong (Amy); son James Robert Armstrong; step-daughters, Cheryl Spradling (Mike), Gwen Martin (Dan), step-son, John Weaver (CeCe); grandchildren Jason Armstrong (Lanie), Cliff Armstrong; Nicole Armstrong, Ashley Spradling and Mikayla Spradling; Joei and Trey Weaver; and great grandchildren, Mason and Walker Armstrong.
Jerry is also survived by brother Donald Ray Armstrong (Linda) and sister Nancy Armstrong Manley (Greg); nephews - Chris Armstrong (Maria), Michael Armstrong (Gretchen), Matt Armstrong (Leslie), Greg Manley Jr. (Kelli); niece - Michelle Manley Crow (Will), and great-nieces and nephews – Emma Armstrong, Andrew Armstrong, Cullen Armstrong, Parker Armstrong, Addie Armstrong, Luke Armstrong, Caleb Armstrong, Thomas Armstrong, Charlotte Crow, Cale Crow, Kinsley Beth Manley, Joanna Manley and John Mark Manley; as well as many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe on Sterlington Road. Pastor James Doughty of First Baptist Church of Monroe will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm before the service begins.
