Jerry R. Atwood, 62, of Chillicothe passed at 2:09 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born December 29, 1962, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Lester Atwood Sr. and Lucinda Butler Skaggs. On July 14, 1984, he married the former Jennifer L. Shoults who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Tyler (Venessa) Atwood and Zachary (Ashley) Atwood, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Isaac Downs and Benjamin, Brody, Flynn, Adalynn, Madalynn, Kevin, and Penelope Atwood; brothers, Mark (Madu) Atwood, Chris (Claudia) Atwood, Patrick (Joanne) Atwood, and James (Lu-Ann) Skaggs; sisters, Vicki (Ben) Goff, Linda (Greg) Goldsberry, Kathy (John) Mosley, and Elizabeth Skaggs-Kolb; a brother-in-law, Jeff (Dona) Shoults; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Lester Atwood, Sr.; mother, Lucinda Butler Skaggs; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Duane and BeaAnn Shoults; brother and sister-in-law, David and Veronica Bitter; and brothers, Lester Atwood, Jr. and David Atwood.
Jerry was retired from the State of Ohio Department of Corrections (CRC) in Pickaway County. He loved to travel, ride motorcycles, ride horses and spending time with friends and family.
He had many special friends, Dan and Tami Stern, Steve and Kelley Park, Joyce Robinson, Lynn Robinson and many others. Jerry was always the life of the party, very fun to be around. He could always make people laugh with his witty remarks. Jerry will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
