Funeral Services for Jerry Lynn Bailey of Trinity, Tx will be held Thursday, March 30th @ 10:00 am, with Pastor TJ Henley officiating. Interment will follow at Guidry Cemetery in Batson, Tx.
Jerry was born November 2nd, 1948 in Deridder, LA to his parents Louis Lovett Bailey and Reba (Chism) Lang. Jerry passed away on Wednesday, March 22nd in Trinity, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jerry Lynn Bailey Jr, his grandsons Jake Neal Adams and Kelly Lynn Bailey, his brother Richard Louis Bailey and his brother and sister in law, Tommy and Pam Bailey.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Leila Orpha Bailey, son Robert Brandon Adams and wife Jennifer, of Manvel, TX; son, Ronnie Keith Bailey and Tammy, of Deridder, LA; brother, Barney Bailey and wife Judy, of Deridder, LA; sister, Carolyn Bailey of Navarre FL, brother, Dale Bell and wife Loretta, of Kaplan, LA; brother, Buddy Bailey and wife Pam, of Lake Charles, LA; sister Connie Campbell and husband Jessie, of Kolin, LA.
Jerry had 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who he loved very much.
After graduating from DeRidder High School, he joined the Army where he proudly served and fought in the Vietnam War. After the military he was an offshore roughneck, a pipe fitter but quickly pursued a career as a fireman at the Fire department in Baytown where he spent his time fight fires and saving lives. In his spare time he started a business installing carpet and vinyl tile. Started at
Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) as a correctional officer where he was awarded a letter of accommodation for his courageous act; saving a female hostage and apprehending the inmate at great risk to his own personal safety. He was quickly promoted to Safety Officer and then onto Risk Manager auditing all the correctional units in the state of Texas. He enjoyed working there so much he kept going back and ultimately retired from TDCJ three times.
Jerry was an outdoorsman at his core. He loved to work, fish, and hunt. He built two homes on Lake Livingston from the ground up, remodeled 5 mobile homes and did numerous home renovations. He always had a project going; all were only 5 minute jobs. If he wasn't working, you could find him at the deer lease or out on Lake Livingston running his trot lines. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors and you could always count on Jerry to lend a helping hand.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
