Jerry J. Brasser, 78, of Kohler, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center.
Jerry was born on May 9, 1947, in Sheboygan, the son of the late James and Etta (Ruge) Brasser. He attended Cedar Grove schools and graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1965.
Prior to his military service, Jerry worked at Bruce Foundry in Cedar Grove for a year. Jerry served in the Navy Reserves from September 1967 until September 1972. He served with the US Navy Construction Battalion #9 in Vietnam from September 1967 to December 1968.
Jerry graduated from Lakeland College with honors and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 1972. Years later, Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Pearson on February 20, 1982, in the Lakeland College Chapel.
He was employed as a Social Worker for Sheboygan County working at the Sheboygan County Comprehensive Health Center for 15 years and then Sunny Ridge Health and Rehab Center for many years. Even after retirement, Jerry reached out to some former residents who he felt needed some extra attention and his compassion.
Jerry was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove and served there as deacon and elder. He enjoyed cross-county skiing, biking and was a talented wood worker and carpenter. Jerry enjoyed landscaping and took great pride in maintaining the properties he owned. While Jerry and Mary spent winters in Naples, Florida, he enjoyed Rock Steady Boxing during their time there and at the Sports Core in Kohler.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Maria Brasser of Sheboygan; and sister Mary (Marlin) Tanck of Oostburg; sisters-in-law, Barbara (John) Zeni and Susan (Jim) McNeil; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Robert and Gladys Pearson, and his beloved dog, Molly.
A private family memorial service will be held.
A memorial fund in Jerry’s name for Rocky Knoll Health Care Center will be established in his name.
