Jerry Byrd Obituary
November 6, 1936–November 23, 2023
Jerry Byrd, 87, of Santa Fe, NM, passed away on November 23, 2023. He was born on November 6, 1936. Jerry is survived by his wife, Essie Byrd, his daughter, Sonya Byrd, and stepson, Bobby Burnett. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Jones, and brother, Bill Jones.
Jerry proudly served in the Air Force from 1955-1959 and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, Jerry embarked on a successful career. He worked for Coca-Cola bottling in the 70s and later joined El Dorado Elementary, where he dedicated many years until his retirement in 2005. Jerry also had a stint at Quinn and Co (Raymond James).
Jerry was an active member of Soka Gakkai International, a Buddhist organization, where he found solace and community.
A funeral service for Jerry Byrd will be held on Thursday, December 14th at 10:30 am at Berardinelli Funeral Home.

Jerry Byrd was very polite, elegant and respectful. He was also a hard worker and excelled. He had great faith in SGI Nichiren Buddhism and practiced assiduously.
He set a great example to other men.
