He was born on September 23, 1940, to the late George Chastain and Pearl Smart Chastain in Pocahontas. Jerry was a carpenter and built many houses. In 1980 he began doing excavating and hauling naming his company "Jerry Chastain Construction".
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jana Chastain and infant son, Jerry David Chastain.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Chastain of the home; sons, Jeff (Suzi Hindman) Chastain of Pocahontas and James Chastain of Little Rock; grandchildren, Clark Chastain of Pocahontas, Kaelyn Culp of Brookland and Kenton Culp of Brookland; half sisters, Doris and Lavon. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held 10:00 – 12:00 pm Saturday, November 8, 2025, with the funeral service to begin at 12:00 pm. All services will be held in the McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Sutton Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark Brown, Tony Brown, Kevin Brown, Clark Chastain, Brent Powell, and Chad Burgess.
