Jerry "J.J." Deslatte, Jr., a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on January 4, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, at the age of 47. Born on January 11, 1978, in Nederland, Texas, J.J. brightened the lives of those around him with his warm spirit and infectious smile.
J.J. was a kind soul who never turned his back on anyone needing a kind word of help. He generally loved people. J. J. had a strong love for God.
He was an avid fisherman with a pole in his hand before he could even walk. He enjoyed days sitting on a bank with his son, Chance or sister, Stephanie. He often found peace and quiet sitting with a pole in his hand.
He loved to tinker with anything that had a motor, many days helping his father, Jerry Deslatte, Sr. or his brother Billy. The kinship they found with this shared activity lasted as a pleasant memory after his father passed away.
J.J. was a hard worker and never backed away from a job, no matter what was needed, tree cutting, painting, yard work, or anything else he could do to help.
As the son of Jerry James Deslatte, Sr. (deceased) and Carolyn Deslatte, J.J. was raised with love and care, which he carried forward in his own family. He is survived by his beloved mother, Carolyn, whose unwavering support and nurturing presence formed the foundation of his life.
J.J. was a proud father to his four children: Taylor Deslatte and his wife, Gabby, of Nederland; Treavor Deslatte of Groves; Makayla Deslatte; and Chance Deslatte. His legacy lives on through them, as well as through his treasured granddaughter, Addeline Deslatte, who brought immense joy to his life. J.J. loved his dogs, Lilly and Doc, and treated them like family.
In addition to his role as a devoted parent, J.J. was a beloved brother. He is survived by his brother, Billy Wayne Mock, and his sister, Stephanie Elaine Mock Semineaux, who shared countless memories and laughter with him throughout their lives. He had a very special love for his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
J.J.'s presence was felt far beyond his family. He touched the lives of many friends and acquaintances with his kindness and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
As we remember Jerry "J.J." Deslatte, Jr., let us celebrate a life filled with love, family, and the lasting impact of his gentle spirit.
A memorial will be held at a later date to honor Jerry's memory.
