Jerry D Dobers, 87, of Sunsites Arizona passed away in the comfort of his home in the early morning of September 22, 2025.Though his body succumbed to leukemia after twenty years, his spirit has journeyed on to a place of peace. Jerry was born to Lucille and Ted in July 1938 in Erie Illinois. It was there he met the love of his life, Mary Bryan, and were wed in Morrison Illinois, June 1960. After the birth of the first three wonderful children, they decided to start a new adventure in Southern Arizona in 1968. Though they had a rough start in a new state, things started looking up with a steady job at AEPCO and a happy place to call home in Sunsites. A few short years later, their fourth child was born, completing the family. Jerry grew to love exploring the beautiful Arizona outdoors and shared that passion with his family through countless adventures into the wilderness, getting stranded a time or two along the way! After retiring from AEPCO, he enjoyed exploring mountains and trails, traveling, fishing, and hunting. Though he experienced many journeys throughout his life, his greatest adventure and accomplishment was raising four children, of whom he remained proud until his final day. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary; their four children, Bart, Jeri, Bret, and Josh; and three granddaughters, Katelynn, Ashley, and Kaiya and great grandchildren Breton and Blakley. A Celebration of Life is to be held for him at the Sunsites Community Church on Sat, October 4th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Charles Wm Leighton Jr. Hospice, whose compassion and care helped ease his suffering in his final days.
