On April 26, 1941, JC and Mary Carter Edgerton welcomed their first child, Jerry Carter Edgerton at Marion General Hospital. He lived a fairly idyllic childhood on the family farm. He was a member of First Friends Church and active in 4-H, He graduated from Marion High School in 1959 and continued his education at Earlham College where he earned his degree in history in 1963. After his graduation, he began his career in journalism. His first major by-line was covering the State Fair Coliseum explosion for the Associated Press. He worked in various locations for the AP before he was awarded a fellowship to the London School of Economics. He worked in political reporting in Washington DC and then finished his journalism career as the senior writer for Money Magazine. in New York City, He and his wife were truly world travelers.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Jane Edgerton Reckford (Thomas) and his sister, Sara Edgerton. He was predeceased by his parents, JC and Mary Edgerton. Also, his wife of 52 years, Lynn Langway A memorial service will be held at First Friends Church, Indianapolis on Saturday, November 15th at 1 p.m.
