Jerry Farris Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 1, 2025.
Jerry Farris, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend stepped into the arms of Jesus on October 9, 2025.

Born in Everett, WA on October 31st, 1947, he is survived by his wife Shirley Farris; children Julie Farris, Steven Farris, and Jamie Balmelli; grandson Luca Balmelli; mother Geraldine Gonsalves and sister Terry Farris.

In his younger years he lived in Sacramento with his mother and sister, getting a degree in Art History while working for Western Airlines. He served in the Air Force reserves there before moving to Hawaii to open the Western base on Oahu. He bought his first condo there and loved island life. He later shared that love with his kids and grandson, taking them to Waikiki and showing them his old stomping grounds and playing in the ocean.

Jerry enjoyed over 48 years with Delta Airlines (which bought Western) working the ticket counter (where he met Shirley), the Crown Room club, and in the last 16 years of his career, as an international flight attendant. He loved to travel and enjoyed nothing more than wandering new cities, believing a mile was"just another block or two", and exploring local food and grocery stores along with the usual sightseeing. He was able to enjoy even more travel adventures with Shirley and friends in his retirement, including more recently, a month long cruise through the South Pacific.

He loved cooking and entertaining, working for the Mariners in their club level suites, and being the best grandpa to not only Luca, but all the "grand-dogs" as well. He never met a baby or a dog he didn't love and was always happy to take them on walks and nap together. He was the king of napping in front of the fireplace at holiday gatherings once the meal was done.

Jerry was a supportive spouse, proud father, the best grandpa, loving family member, kind friend, and will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on November 7th at 2pm PT at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Normandy Park and will be livestreamed.

In leu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to his favorite local non-profit, Transform Burien. https://www.transformoutreach.org/
