Jerry Warren Franklin, 65, of Fort Mitchell, AL passed away late Saturday night, June 1, 2024, in Columbus, GA while surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with Confederate Military Honors will be held at 3:00 pm EDT Monday, June 17, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Pastor Chris Nolan officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to his memorial service at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Jerry was born June 19, 1958, in Bremerhaven, Germany, son of the late J W Franklin and Hiltrud A. Ackermann Franklin.  He had worked in construction and was employed with Freeman and Associates, Inc. in Columbus, GA.  He served as former Fire Chief of the Fort Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department.  He enjoyed wood crafting, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, nature, visiting the beach, and was passionate about spending quality time with his wife and all his grandchildren and family.  Jerry had a love for history and was known for being a history buff.  He enjoyed participating in the American Civil War reenactment and had the honor to take part in the restoration of the Columbus Civil War Naval Museum.  He believed that history applied; impacted our present, and future; so that we as people could apply wisdom, honor, and respect to all, and love everyone.  He was a Christian by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Debbie Franklin.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Angela Carol Ellwood Franklin, his children, Jamie Billman, Kyle Franklin, Roxianne Dillon, and Jessica Dart and husband Herman, two sisters, Pat Frazier, and Sylvia Nolan and husband Chris, three brothers, John Ackerman and wife Diana, Bob Franklin and wife LeAnn, and Ralph Franklin and wife Joanna, (13) grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.
