Jerry Giesken Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McGeehan Funeral Homes Martin Chapel in Chesaning on Dec. 4, 2025.
Jerry Louis Giesken, age 80, passed away peacefully in Goodrich, Michigan on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Jerry was born on December 3, 1944, to Hubert and Thelma (Gross) Giesken and was raised in Chesaning, where he lived his entire life.
On April 18, 1970, Jerry married the love of his life, Nora Kay Stinson, and together they built a beautiful life over their 40 years of marriage. He was well known and well loved throughout the community, raising his family in Chesaning and forming lifelong friendships. Jerry worked for General Motors for 32 years before retiring in 1996.
Jerry proudly served in the United States Army from September 2, 1965, to September 1, 1967. During his military service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Marksman Badge. His service came to an end after he was wounded in combat, for which he received the distinguished Purple Heart. If you knew Jerry, you likely heard him tell the story of the day he was wounded - a story that revealed not only his courage, but his deep love for his country. To his family and many in the Chesaning community, he will forever be remembered as a true American hero.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife, Nora Kay Giesken. He is survived by his four loving sisters; his three children, of whom he was immensely proud: Mark Giesken, Kevin Giesken (Misty), and Jerilynn Jacobson (Chris); three grandchildren, Victoria Nicole Sanchez (Troy), Isabella Kay Giesken, and Gwenna Kay Lee Giesken; two great-grandsons; and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel, 316 W. Broad Street, Chesaning on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 2:00–5:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 2 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion of Chesaning or the Purple Heart Foundation.
