Jerry L. Grunden, age 88 of Celina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the Grand Lake Healthcare Center in St. Marys. He was born on December 17, 1936 to the late Herbert F. and Thelma (Shaner) Grunden in Celina. On June 14 1958, he married his beloved wife, Cora Blackburn who passed away on April 30, 2003. He is also survived by his daughter Sherrie (Steve) Henderson of Crossville, TN, stepson Thomas Gillum of Michigan, stepdaughter Brenda Akins of Mississippi, nine grandchildren Brian (Zoa) Henderson of Spring City, TN, Cody (Ashely) Henderson of St. Marys, Jamie (Derek) Tussing of Celina, Eric Barnes of Chattanooga, TN, Travis (Cheri) Gillum of Bowling Green, Nicole Donovan of Celina, Kelly (Jeff) Watson of Celina, Jerry Croston of Ohio, Jim (Tonya) Croston of Ohio, twenty seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brothers Joe (Sally) Grunden of Celina, Mike (Lou) Grunden of Celina, sister Kay Gibson of Celina and brother-in-law Gene Marshall of Celina.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by his stepson Ronald Gillum, stepdaughter Carolyn Croston, brothers Don (Madalyn) Grunden, Jack (Ruby) Grunden, sisters Linda Marshall, Diane (Charles) Miller, and granddaughter Rhonda Henderson.
Jerry graduated from Celina High School with the class of 1954. He was formerly employed at MidMark Corp as a Welder in Versailles. He was a proud member of the Montezuma Church of Christ, the Celina Eagles and enjoyed a life filled with outdoor adventures. He found great joy in fishing and hunting, pastimes that brought him peace and happiness throughout his years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Christian officiating. Burial will follow in the Mercer Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Friday at the Lehman Dzendzel Funeral Home.
