Jerry R. Harvey, born on January 1, 1956, in Radford, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas.
He worked at Blue Cross & Blue Shield until his retirement in July 2015.
An illuminating presence, Jerry was known for his unabashed honesty and his captivating one-liners that could fill a room with laughter. His personality was a vivid tapestry woven with loyalty and generosity, traits that endeared him to friends and family alike. Not one to be shy, Jerry told it like it was, infusing each conversation with his unmistakable charm. His audacity to embrace life with unrelenting enthusiasm was mirrored in his love for music; he reveled in listening to it loudly, letting the melodies wash over him and those fortunate enough to be in his company.
An avid cook, his culinary creations were legendary, especially during the holiday season when his beef and noodles and chicken and noodles became synonymous with festive gatherings. Family trips to Cancun and the Dominican Republic created cherished memories, treasured moments that outshined the everyday noise of life. His exceptional skills in the kitchen extended beyond comfort food; Jerry masterfully crafted peanut brittle, jambalaya, and poured his heart into making Christmas ornaments, floral arrangements, and wedding cakes. His crafty talents brought light and beauty into the lives of those near him.
As a proud father and beloved "PaPa," his legacy is carried on through his surviving family members: his devoted wife, Bobbi (Durham) Harvey, whom he married on August 5, 1995, in Las Vegas; his daughter, Janet (Amy) Duffer-Harvey of Topeka; sons Ron Webb, Jr. of Mandan, ND and Joseph (Lindsey) Webb of Topeka; daughter Amber (Hugh) Renyer from Berryton; a cherished brother, Mark (Debi) Harvey; along with 18 adoring grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, with one more on the way, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his previous wife, Christina Harvey. These loved ones shine brightly as a testament to Jerry's loving nature and unwavering dedication to family.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Walter G. Harvey and Rosa Lee (Barnett) Harvey; and his daughter, Melanie D'Ann Downie, who waits with open arms to greet him once more.
