Jerry Rex Hollowell

1935 - 2023

Jerry was born August 18, 1935, to Stan and Virginia Hollowell, he passed away with his family by his side at Renown Medical Center on October 22, 2023. Jerry spent most of his young life on Catalina Island enjoying the warm weather, commercial fishing with his dad, and countless trips to the Eastern Sierra hunting and fishing.
Jerry joined the United States Army in May of 1958, stationed in Korea, proudly serving his country. Upon his honorable discharge he followed his dreams to Bishop, CA to start a life of his own. His first endeavor was buying Richfield Truck and Auto, which is where he met his late wife, Linda. As they began to build their life together, he sold his business and worked full-time for Turner Gas retiring in the early 90's. Jerry was very active in his children's lives while they were young, from coaching their sports to hunting, fishing and everything in between! Jerry was a long-time member of the Elks and the Bishop Country Club, an avid sportsman, savvy business and family man! You could often catch him on the golf course, very early, with his golf buddies 3 or 4 times a week. He loved to take trips with friends in his RV, salmon fishing on the ocean, Arizona in the winters, and the annual Utah hunting trip with his sons. He loved and lived life to its fullest. His warm and welcoming smile, kind and generous heart, hug that was filled with love, and "I love you back," will be terribly missed.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Linda. He is survived by daughter Terri Hollowell and significant other Lanny, sons; Randy and Chyrl Person, Jeff and Brandi Hollowell, Chris and Kim Hollowell, Mike and Tammy Hollowell, companion; Rena Mlodecki, stepbrother; JJ Sagona, aunt; Aileen Hollowell, nephews; Steve Fry, Dave and Debbie Fry; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bishop Elks Lodge, 151 East Line Steet, Bishop CA. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Elks Lodge BPOE 1603, Bishop, CA.
