Jerry Cecil Howard of Gratis, OH passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the age of 76. Jerry was born on January 5, 1949 in Middletown, OH. In 1968 Jerry was drafted into the US Army and fought for our country in the Vietnam War. After coming back from his military duty, Jerry returned to his job working at Magnode as a forklift driver until 1978, he then started a career as a truck driver until his retirement in 2010.
Jerry loved taking vacations with his family over the years. He took great pride in his house and yard. Jerry loved having cookouts and sitting on his patio entertaining family and friends. His favorite pastime was playing poker with his friends. The legacy of Jerry will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, as they cherish the laughter and love he shared throughout his life. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered for his love for his family and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Hank and Jean Howard, his brother Ronnie Howard, sister Kathy (Howard) Froman. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Hurley) Howard, daughters Melissa (Mike) Hensley of Germantown, Becky (Josh) Horn of Brookville, son Craig (Amanda) Howard of Middletown. Eight loving grandchildren Benjamin Hensley, Bryce Hensley, Lucas Horn, Brenna Hensley, Liam Horn, Carson Howard, Kinley Howard and Coby Howard. Brothers Doug, Dave (Melissa) Howard, sister Tami (Joe) Pickett, several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. Lifelong friends Tom and Ruthie Lane, Harold and Carol Parker, along with close friends Mark Hibbard and Richard Riley, and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive friends for a viewing on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 6-8pm at the Arpp, Root & Carter Funeral Home, 29 N Main St. Germantown. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 9:00am with burial immediately following at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis.
Please join us for a memorial reception at the Germantown Methodist Church, 525 Farmersville Pike, Germantown OH 45327 to celebrate Jerry's life following the burial.
