Jerry Len Johnson, age 72, of Collingswood, New Jersey, passed away on January 21, 2026, at his nursing home facility in Berlin, NJ. He was the husband of Cynthia Johnson, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Creston, NC, he was the son of the late Rev. Clyde Johnson and the late Mary (Arnold) Hernandez.

Jerry had a wide range of passions that brought adventure to his life. He enjoyed fishing, hang gliding, riding motorcycles with his brother, drag racing, and browsing flea markets. Gifted with a mechanical mind, he worked on cars and took pleasure in taking things apart, fixing them, and putting them back together. He cherished time spent with his family.
Jerry will always be remembered for his loving generosity, his adventurous spirit, and the kindness he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Pam Cooper (Brian), Laurie Boris (John), Cynthia Kinney (Tom), and Jerry “Jay” Johnson Jr. (Madlene); his grandchildren, David Gum, Nikki Gum, Emily Esher, Alexis Johnson, Gwen Esher, Lauren Esher, and Josh Kinney; his great-grandson, Lucas Gum; his siblings, Louise Palmer (Randy), Leonard Johnson (Janie), Benny Johnson (Tish), and Patty Hernandez (Gerardo), and many nieces and nephews.
