It is with great sadness and regret that on October 3rd 2024, Jerry Wayne Jones went to be with the lord at the age of 77. Born on February 8th 1947 to the late Covis Jones and Hazel Boyd.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service will be held the same day, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with military rites performed by the Simpson County Honor Guard.
Jerry is survived by his loving and faithful wife of over 53 years Pauleita Jones, his two sons who was very proud Bobby Jones (Janay) and Jeremy Jones (Holly), his 5 grandchildren Alena, Quinten, Daniel, Charlie, and Isaac. His last surviving sibling Tracey Jones (Rhonda) and sister n law Amy Jones, along with several nieces and nephews all of which he loved.
Jerry was a very proud veteran of the Vietnam war where he faithfully served from 1966-68 a year of that overseas in Vietnam. He was a hardworking man having worked at Dayton Walter for 26 years and Walmart for 22 years making many friends along the way. He was known for his infectious laugh, direct nature, and love of sports westerns and especially hats. He will be missed greatly and his presence will continue to be felt by those who remember him.
Please join us after the service to celebrate Jerry’s life with some food and fellowship. Anyone who wants to bring something is welcome to.
In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to honor him may express their sympathy to charities that aid other Vietnam Veterans.
