Jerry Jones

Jerry A. Jones, 83 years old of Pelahatchie, MS, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on March 21, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

Jerry was born on March 27, 1941, in Brandon, MS to A. D. and Mary Jones of Morton, MS.

After Jerry graduated from Morton High School in 1959, he joined the U.S. Navy and served faithfully for four years. He served as a MS Highway patrolman from 1966 until retirement in 1990. He spent a lifetime of service to his community (Leesburg Fire Department), city (Chief of Police in Pelahatchie, MS), county (Undersheriff with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and later, Bailiff), state (MS Highway Patrol), and country (U.S. Navy and National Guard). He proudly wore a badge for 47 years. After fully retiring, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was also a Past Worshipful Master with a dual affiliation with the Pelahatchie Masonic Lodge #276, and Morton Masonic Lodge #254, and the Eastern Star, Mary Francis Chapter #222, of Pelahatchie, MS.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, first wife (Billie Ann Bates Jones – the mother of his two daughters), second wife (Margaret Watts Bilbro Jones), sister (Robin Jones Campbell), son (Darvil Bilbro), and son-n-law (Mark Keller).

He is survived by his wife, Cleo Jones, children: Natalie Jones Keller, Reneé Jones Yancey (Cotton), Shelly Davis Edwards (Chuck), P.W. Meek (Gracie), Gay Bilbro, Michael Bilbro, and Mark Bilbro (Lucy), siblings: Ann Jones McCraney (James), Pam Jones Thompson (Paul), Ronnie Jones, and Scott Jones (Cindy). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Visitation will be at Wolf Funeral Services, 3054 Hwy. 80, Morton, MS 39117, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and service will be on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Fannin, 101 Church Rd., Brandon, MS 39047. Jerry will be laid to rest with Military honors at First Baptist Fannin.
