Jerry Donree Lowder, a beloved family man and veteran, passed away on February 14, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born on March 9, 1939 to the late Willie and Bertha Lowder.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 11:00am until 12:45pm.
Jerry was a retired member of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. His dedication extended beyond his professional life; he was a proud United States Army veteran who served as a paratrooper, completing over 301 jumps—a testament to his courage and commitment to duty.
Family was at the heart of Jerry’s existence. He was known for his deep affection for his dogs, Nugget and Riley, who brought joy and companionship throughout his life.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Bertha Lowder, as well as his son, Ricky Lowder, and granddaughter, Jennifer Berger, seven brothers and two sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jerry was known for his love for his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Johnnie (Sue) Lowder, son, Steve Lowder (Lisa), daughter, Melody Baucom; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward his love in their memories.
A man defined by his commitment to both family and country, Jerry Donree Lowder will be remembered for his generous heart and the countless lives he touched in his journey. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
