Jerry Lukens Obituary
Known affectionately as "Bubba" by his family, Jerry is survived by his sister, Theresa Riddle, and her husband, Larry; his niece Laura Wilkerson and her husband Michael; and his nephews Ryan Riddle and wife Casey, Reece Riddle and wife Katrina, and Nathan Riddle and wife Chelsea. He also leaves behind his beloved grand-nieces and grand-nephews: Rylee, Blane, Kaylee, Elizabeth, Charlee, Blair, Bennett, and Nolan. Jerry was a loving brother, nephew, and uncle whose gentle presence will be deeply missed.
Jerry was a Senior AutoCAD Draftsman, proudly following in the footsteps of his grandfather, father, and uncles. Entering the profession in 1991, he dedicated more than 30 years to his craft. During high school, while representing Alvin High School, he earned First Place and the Grand Award in state competition for drafting-an achievement that set the course for his lifelong career.
A devoted member of the New Hope Church family for more than 25 years, Jerry faithfully served as a volunteer in the New Hope Kids Ministry, where he taught and inspired hundreds of children over the years.
Jerry had a deep love for World War II history and visited airplane museums across the country. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Aces High III WWII simulation gaming community, where he made friends from all over the United States. Locally, he enjoyed spending mornings with the Pearland Oldies at Whataburger, listening to stories and soaking up history.
Family and friends will gather for visitation at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 8, with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at South Park Funeral Home. Interment will take place immediately afterward at South Park Cemetery.
Jerry's kindness, quiet strength, love for the Lord, family, and history will be forever remembered.
