Jerry N. Medlin, 90, loving husband of Shirley Tollison Medlin, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was born to the late Jasper Newton and Nettie Flinkenshelt Medlin and was of Baptist faith. He served his country for twenty-years in the United States Air Force before retiring as Tech Sergeant. Jerry served in active duty during the Vietnam War earning a bronze star and having a bunker named after him in Vietnam. His dedicated service to his country defines him as a true hero, “There is nothing nobler than risking your life for your country”.
After Jerry’s military career, he worked for almost 20 years at Michelin, MARC starting in security and later on a machine tester.
In addition to his wife of 70 years, he is survived by sons, Jerry Malcolm Medlin (Glennda Robledo) and Steven Joel Medlin (Peggy); Chris Price who shared a bond like a daughter; cousin Jack Medlin who was more like a brother; five grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Jerry is predeceased by his wife’s parents, Joe and Leota Tollison.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home- Powdersville Road. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Honor.
Flowers are welcomed by the family or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
