Jerry Myers was born February 24, 1948 to Alvin and Lucille Myers in Orange, TX. He passed away on November 15, 2025 at the age of 77.
Jerry was known as a welder, plumber, electrician, a mechanic and above all else, capable of taking all things apart and repairing them.
He was raised in the Cove area and graduated from Bridge City High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the Navy and spent a large part of his time deployed overseas. His craft onboard was an aircraft mechanic. This started his path to becoming a guy who could do it all. He wasn't afraid to tear into anything.

After his stint in the Navy, he worked in a few garages around Orange and eventually landed a job at Gulf in 1972, where he spent about 28 years as a welder and mechanic before retiring. He quickly went to work at ACME transport and wore out 3 heavy duty trucks, in the process, logging over 1 million miles in the course of about 10 years. When he decided that work became too dangerous, he switched roles to the neighborhood Mr. Fix It and started fishing more often. Even having a custom boat built just for him.
He had several hobbies and things he enjoyed later in life, such as playing dominos at the boat club, hunting for various poker games and hosting them at the house as well. He usually was the best dancer when it came to gatherings at Larry's, the VFW or La Poussaire in Breaux Bridge. Everyone loved dancing with him. He loved Cajun music and Swamp Pop and it was always playing in his shop when you went to the house. Usually Mitch was resting in the recliner and enjoying the music with him.
Jerry was also regarded as a pretty good cook, whether it was Bar B Q or fried fish. He enjoyed inviting people to the house in big groups to cook and visit. He looked forward to his annual cousin's fish fry every year that he and Sandra hosted at the house. He almost never missed a BBQ cookoff at the boat club. For all of these things that he was so good at, he will be missed greatly. There are so many memories to cherish.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandra Myers; his children, Jason Myers and his wife Christie, Chris Myers and his wife Janet, and Mitchell Laughlin; his sister, Elaine Lemoine; grandchildren, Blaine Myers, Bryce Myers, Olivia Farnsworth and husband Tom; great grandchildren, Sam and Sullivan Farnsworth; brother in laws, Michael Broussard and wife Loretta, and Allen Broussard and wife Mary; and There is an uncle and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all who were loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lucille Myers, and his brother, Joseph Edward Myers.
May he rest in everlasting peace with the Lord.
There will be a celebration of life at the Orange Boat Club on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 3: 00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be appetizers and the bar will be open for water, cokes and other refreshments. All are invited to gather, tell stories and visit with one another in remembrance of Jerry.

Jerry was a joy to spend time with. He loved being around his family. Many great memories were made, and good times had at our annual cousin reunion, which he and Sandra hosted each year. He will be sorely missed, but always remembered fondly. Our hearts go out to Sandra, Mitch, Jason, Chris, Elaine, and all of the Meyers in your time of sorrow. Much Love,
Jessie and Belinda Simon
