Jerry Clyde Palmer, 86, of Clyde died Saturday, September 20, 2025, at an Abilene care facility. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Bible Baptist Church in Clyde. Burial will follow in the Clyde Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Tuesday, Sept. 23rd at the funeral home.

Jerry was born July 31, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Orville and Clare Bennett Palmer and graduated from high school in Lamoni, Iowa. After graduation Jerry served in the US Air Force. After moving to Texas, he was a policeman in Austin for two years before becoming a supervisor for the Texas Motor Vehicle Division for 29 years. Jerry married Charlotte Preslar on March 12, 1982, in Abilene. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Clyde, a member of Gideons International and the Callahan County Jail Ministry for many years.

Jerry accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1981 and from that point on he would witness to anyone at any time. He walked the walk and talked the talk of a true Christian.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Clyde; his daughter, Cindy Easley and husband Kevin of Abilene; stepdaughter, Karen Schaefer and husband Ken of Round Rock; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with another one on the way; and his sister-in-law, Peggy Preslar of Clyde.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Stephen Palmer; his sister, Patty Moore; and his stepson, Jay Freeman.
