Jerry Mitchell Shipley, passed away at his residence on Friday, September 19, 2025. Born on February 3, 1946, in Buncombe County, Jerry exemplified a life characterized by hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
As a loving father and grandfather he leaves behind his daughters, Nicole Shipley (Antione) and Melissa Howard (Red). Jerry was also proud to be a brother to Mary Jane Shuler, Robert Justice, and Emily King. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Devonna Brown (Ricky), Cory Garrison, Stanphany Fields, Bryan Moore (Leah), Jerry Moore, and Dylan Moore, and he was blessed with 16 great-grandchildren, ensuring that his spirit will live on in future generations.
Jerry was known as an avid collector, which reflected not only his interests but also his passion for finding and cherishing the beauty in everyday life. Those who knew him admired his commitment to his work and his family, qualities that made him a respected figure among his peers and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonita Shipley, and his parents, John James Shipley, Jr. and Minnie Mae Jones Shipley.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Beam Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Greenhill Cemetery in Asheville.
Jerry Mitchell Shipley will be remembered for his loving spirit and unwavering dedication to his family, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially his Grandaughter, Devonna Brown. There bond was unbreakable.
