Jerry Lynn Smith, a beloved member of the community, sadly passed away on October 3, 2023, at his home after a courageous battle with Cancer . He was born on June 25, 1962, in Marion County, Mississippi to George Smith and Sylvia Barber Smith.
Tragically, Jerry's battle with cancer came to an end on October 3, 2023. Despite facing such adversity, he showed incredible strength and bravery throughout his illness. Jerry's positive attitude served as an inspiration to all those who knew him.
Jerry dedicated many years of his life to working in the carpentry trade. Outside of work, Jerry had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors. Camping trips with family and friends also held a special place in his heart. Jerry was known for cherishing moments with his kids and grandkids, creating lasting memories with them. Jerry was an active member of the Not-A-Hill Hunting Club, where he shared countless stories and laughs with fellow hunting enthusiasts. His camaraderie and love for nature fostered lifelong friendships within the club.
He is survived by Bonnie Rogers, his girlfriend of 18 years, who brought joy into his life. His siblings Gary Joseph and Joyce Ann. Jerry's legacy lives on through his loving children: Bridgett (Bobby), Jerry (Brittany), Derek (Nicole), Kelly (Jason), Benjie, Cody, Tina; as well as his cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Emily, Makinley, Jonathan, Elly, Everly, Madalyn, Aiden, Nolan, Maisyn, Easton, Derek, Ezra, Emma, Justin, Ryder. along with many nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by by his father, George Smith, and mother, Sylvia Barber Smith, Wife Rebecca Threeton. His siblings James Edward, George Lavelle, Lester Kenneth, Lisa Kay, and Grace Marie
Family and Friends are invited to a funeral service in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home to honor Jerry's memory and say a final goodbye. Visitation services will be held on October 9, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home in Covington, Louisiana. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location. The burial service will be held at Abita Spring Cemetery #2 in Abita Springs, Louisiana from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Jerry Lynn Smith's presence in our lives will be greatly missed, but we find solace in knowing that his spirit will live on through his family and friends. He will forever be remembered as a hardworking man with a kind heart and a passion for life. May he rest in eternal peace.
