Jerry Lee Stevens, a devoted servant of God, loving family man, and proud patriot, passed away on November 1, 2025, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was born on December 20, 1945, in Black Oak, Arkansas, to Virnis Oliney and Norma L. "Toots" (Simpkins) Stevens. From a young age, Jerry demonstrated unwavering faith, loyalty, and dedication, qualities that guided him throughout his life.
Jerry's journey of faith began at church, where he met the love of his life, Joy, when he was just four years old. Their childhood friendship blossomed into a lifelong love that was rekindled at age 17, culminating in their marriage on his 18th birthday, December 20, 1963, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the pastor's house because the snow was too deep to reach the church. Their bond was rooted in shared faith, love, and a deep commitment to family.
A proud and distinguished member of the United States Air Force for over thirty years, Jerry served with honor and dedication. His military career included postings at Lackland AFB TX, Amarillo AFB TX, Laughlin AFB TX, Naha AB Okinawa, Thailand, Nellis AFB NV, Holloman AFB NM, Hattiesburg MS, Norton AFB CA, Langley AFB VA, Kadena AFB Okinawa, Little Rock AFB AR. As a jet engine mechanic, his work exemplified discipline, skill, and service to his country. He proudly served his country in Vietnam and in Operation Desert Storm and Shield. He retired in 1993 as a Chief Master Sergeant. A man committed to his country, Jerry continued his service as a Training Leader at Altus AFB from 1996 to 2004 with the A Team. In 2008, he and his son Jeffrey founded the Yellow Rose Firing Range, where he cherished sharing his passion and expertise with fire arms until his passing.
Jerry was a faithful servant of God, a pillar of strength and integrity in his family, and a proud patriot who loved his country deeply. His legacy of faith, family, and service will forever be cherished.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Joy; children, Jerry Jr. and wife Susan, Tammy Renee Williams and husband Christopher, Jeffrey Scott and wife Trisha, and Rhonda Kay Battles and husband Eric; fourteen grandchildren, including Christopher Williams, Steven Williams, Joshua Stevens, Kristi Powell, Bethany Austin, Caleb Stevens, Jeremiah Stevens, James Stevens, J.T. Stevens, Justin Stevens, EJ Cruz, Kayla Cruz, Emma Battles, and David Fortuna; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Jerry also leaves behind his brothers, Jackie and wife Janice Stevens, and his sisters, Betty and husband Buddy Davis, Esther and husband Glenn Cobb, and Ollie Ann Stevens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virnis Oliney and Norma L. "Toots" (Simpkins) Stevens, his sister Patricia Stevens and brother Dewayne Stevens.
Jerry's life was a testament to faith, family, and country. His commitment to serving others and living according to his beliefs will continue to inspire those who cherish his memory.
