I was very sad to read of Jerry's passing. I have known Jerry, and his twin brother Larry, since 9th grade at Central.
Jerry was always nice to me, and he had a very unique, and hilarious personality. One could never anticipate what he might say next, but it always made another heartfelt story that followed him through the halls of Columbus High School, and then through North High School, as a valued member if the maintenance department. Jerry, Larry; and I graduated from Columbus High School in 1966.
In 1980 I began working at North. Jerry was a hard worker, and would do everything possible to please all of the many teachers and staff. (This was not always an easy task).
My husband, Gene, and I valued Jerry as a friend. I always liked talking with Jerry about the building that we had both graduated from.
If you turned a corner, at North, and encountered laughter, you wouldn't be surprised if it was Jerry telling a hilarious story. He also had many serious stories, with a life story that he told.
We appreciated Jerry, and am pretty sure that he liked us. Not long ago we visited the Jonesville Tea Room, (otherwise known as the Brick). I was hoping that he would be there and we could share some laughs. He wasn't there that day, and I wondered how he was doing, and if he was still fishing along the river, and listening to the Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody cassette that I made 2 copies if, for him, many years ago.
Jerry had a big heart, and he built each retiree a small garden wheelbarrow. These were valued by many, and we still have ours. RIP Jerry!

Jerry--Farewell to a great and trustworthy friend. We go back all the way to the beginning of our school days at Wayne Township School. You have always stood beside me. You even stood up for me and protected me on many occasions. May God reward you with a special place in Heaven.
