LIMA -- Jerry James Trenkamp, age 71 of Lima, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 8:20 p.m. in Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born December 1, 1953, in Lima, to James Joseph and Marjorie K. Trenkamp Hermiller who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his stepfather, Lavern Hermiller.
Survivors include his siblings: Craig (Mary) Trenkamp of Cridersville, Tim (Gina) Trenkamp of Beaufort, SC, Carla Visser of Orlando, FL, Ron (Chris) Trenkamp of Cincinnati, John (Tami) Trenkamp of Lima, Deb (Don) Hohenbrink of Bluffton, Sue (Steve) Recker of Mt. Cory, Jane Warren of Columbus Grove, Larry (Vicki) Hermiller of Pandora and Tom (Ann) Hermiller of Lima, thirty-two nieces and nephews, forty-three great nieces and nephews and three more on the way.
Jerry was baptized at St. Rose Catholic Church. He attended Kennedy School for the Deaf, Dayton, then attended West Junior High and was a 1973 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He retired after working more than 25 years as a tow motor operator at Plastipak in Jackson Center. After retiring from there, he became a grounds keeper and expert tree trimmer at Prairie View Golf Course and Hawthorne Hills Golf Course. He was a member of F.O.E #370, Lima. He loved to fish and golf, was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and the O.S.U. Buckeyes.
Services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services with Pastors James & Sheryl Menke officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Rock the Silence, Deaf Church and Deaf Club, c/o New Hope Christian Center, 2240 Baty Rd., Elida, OH 45807.

Sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I knew him when we were kids growing up on Cole street. I remember him being full of energy. This is a picture of a few of the neighborhood kids.
