Jerry Vrchoticky Obituary
Jerry L. Vrchoticky, age 72, of Iowa City, passed away on December 18, 2024 at the UIHC-Downtown.
Born on August 13, 1952 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Jerry was the son of Robert and Hazel (Maxey) Vrchoticky. He grew up in Iowa City and attended City High. Jerry was united in marriage to Joan Lenz on June 2, 1973 at the Danforth Chapel in Iowa City.
Jerry drove a moving truck across the country when he was younger. He worked as a contractor around the area. He helped install the first digital scoreboard at Kinnick Stadium. Jerry was very devoted to his family and cared for his grandchildren every day for almost twenty years. He was a caregiver for his brother as well.
Jerry's family includes his wife, Joan of Iowa City; a daughter, Diane (Tim) McClaran of Belgrade, Montana; two sons, Scott (Aimey) Vrchoticky of Tiffin and Kevin (Meredith) Vrchoticky of Urbandale; grandchildren: Austin (Allie) Mussig, Ashley Vrchoticky, Aiden Vrchoticky, Ellie Vrchoticky, Chloe Vrchoticky, Logan Vrchoticky, and Noelle Vrchoticky; two great-grandchildren, Dexter Mussig and Porter Mussig; siblings: Joseph (Ruth) Vrchoticky, Edwin (Donna) Vrchoticky, Sharon (Gaylen) Krenz; Darrell (Carol) Vrchoticky, Rodney Vrchoticky, Pat (Roger) Litton, and Bruce (Mary) Vrchoticky; a sister-in-law, Rosiland Vrchoticky; brothers-in-law: Roland Donovan, Kenneth Swartzendruber; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Marilyn (Harlan) Nost, Darlene Donovan, Robert Vrchoticky, Melva Swartzendruber, and Allen Vrchoticky; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Vrchoticky.
A Celebration of Life is pending.
