Jerry Lawson Wheeler, born on July 21, 1954, in Visi, Oklahoma to Verlon Ray and Delores Jean (Jones) Wheeler, passed away on May 8, 2025, in Osage, Oklahoma. He is remembered as a dedicated roughneck and tool pusher in the oilfields, where his hard work and commitment to his craft were evident.
Growing up in Prue, Oklahoma, Jerry received his education and graduated in 1972. His formative years in this small community shaped his resilience and work ethic, qualities that he carried throughout his life. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army, embodying a spirit of duty and dedication that he held dear.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jerry was a man of many interests. He found joy in riding his Harley, tinkering with various projects, fishing, and most importantly, spending quality time with his family. His passions reflected a love for the outdoors and a commitment to being an active presence in the lives of those he cherished.
Jerry leaves behind a devoted daughter, Amanda Horton, as well as a brother, Frank Wheeler, and a sister, Frostie Skaggs. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Tallon Wheeler and Wyatt Wheeler and two great-grandchildren, Wrenley Wheeler and Braxton Ludinich, along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Verlon Wheeler and Delores Wanzer, two brothers, Carl Wheeler and Eugene Wheeler, three sisters, Donna, Alice and Glenda, and one son, Cody Wheeler. Jerry’s legacy is one of hard work, family, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
