Jerry Zaruba Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Jerry Zaruba, age 91, of Conroe, Texas, will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hooper Chapel at First Baptist Church of Conroe, with Pastor Alan Armstrong officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon at the church will be held following the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Conroe Memorial Park, under the direction of Conroe Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Zaruba was born on August 21, 1933, in Comanche, Texas, to W. B. (Dub) and Mona Alford, and passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025 in Conroe, Texas.

Jerry was an accomplished gardener for many years and most certainly had a green thumb. She found great joy in nurturing her garden and generously sharing its fruits and vegetables with family and friends over the years. A kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Jerry was deeply devoted to her family and treasured the many close friendships she built throughout her life.

She married the love of her life, Al Zaruba, on March 12, 1954, and they enjoyed over 62 years of marriage together.

Mrs. Zaruba was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Al Zaruba, and her brothers, Cletus Alford and Justin Alford.

She is survived by her sisters: June Sulak, Ginger Hart, and Debbie Gilbert. Also surviving her are her loving children: Son and daughter-in-law: Keith and Trudy Zaruba; Daughters and sons-in-law: Victoria and Jimmy Burleigh, and Twyla and Wayne Gentles; her grandchildren, Rusty Burleigh, Rachel Shaw and husband John, Jason Zaruba and wife Nicole, Christine Armstrong and husband Ryan, Cameron Gentles and wife Jaclyn, Tyler Gentles and wife Jill, and Cooper Gentles; her great-grandchildren, Adam Connolly, Kaitlyn Burleigh, Jared Shaw, Brendan Shaw, Adrianna Burleigh, Landon Zaruba, Braden Zaruba, Savannah Zaruba, Mae Gentles, and Boone Gentles.

She is also lovingly remembered by numerous other relatives and dear friends.

Peace and grace to her spirit.
