He was married to Rajena McDowell. Funeral services for Stroud resident, Jess McDowell, were held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 in the Olive First Baptist Church. His son, Rev. Tyler McDowell officiated along with several other ministers. Interment followed in the Stroud Cemetery at Stroud, OK. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Michael's Funeral Home of Drumright.
