My favorite work of poetry is "If" by Rudyard Kipling. When I read it I am reminded of Jesse Willard Alexander.

We knew him as "Willie" while at the house in late 60s/early 70s and have fond memories of those times. Always treated us with the utmost respect, though we didn't deserve it most of the time! Introduced both my children to him at one of Theta Chi parties, when son was 1st year and daughter 4th year, and Willie was "guest" bartender. He's at peace now.

When I think of my four wonderful years at the University ('75-'79), a parade of faces go by in my mind as being important parts of that overall experience. And Willie is right there. His humor, wit, his warm gruffness, his confidence, his bigger-than-life bearing, added so much to our lives.

We can all only hope to live such a full, rich, long life and touch as many people as Willie did. MY sincere condolences to his whole family. I hope and pray that the collective memories of so many whose lives he touched will be some comfort to you in this difficult time.

I have known Willie since 1957 as a brother in Theta Chi. Willie's humor, dedication and integrity was admired by all. I have kept in touch with Willie over the years and was proud to be present for his induction as a brother in Theta Chi. Willie will be missed and I am pleased to call him "friend" and "brother". My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sadness.

I was at Theta Chi when Brother Willie became associated. What a great guy with the same outlook on life. Earth has lost one of its most beautiful people!

May God give Willie his just reward and comfort all who loved him.

A man with character, a gentleman, a caring person, intelligent, a someone with integrity, humor, insight...I could go on with ways to describe a man I looked up to. I will forever be glad I spent some time with Willie, heard him whistle, and listened to his laughter.
