Jesse Luna Guerrero, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully in San Antonio on August 19, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on February 6, 1939, in San Antonio, Jesse lived his life filled with love for his family and a commitment to helping others.

Family was of utmost importance to Jesse. He cherished sharing life experiences and offered guidance to younger generations. Though he could be stern at times, his approach was always rooted in tough love, which many came to appreciate. His laughter and smile were nothing short of contagious; those fortunate enough to witness it would often find him blushing with joy as he shared in the happiness of his loved ones.

Jesse embodied the virtues of an old-school gentleman. Known for donning his Fedora hat, he could easily be described as a "cool cat." He was a gentle giant with a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand. Jesse was a jack of all trades; he possessed skills in auto repairs, household maintenance, and yard work, making him the go-to person for those in need.

His hobbies and interests vividly reflected his zest for life. Jesse enjoyed gambling, traveling, and gathering with his nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters - law for poker and bingo nights. He also delighted in the simple pleasures of watching television, particularly shows like "The Price is Right," "Wheel of Fortune," and Westerns.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Herlinda C. Guerrero; his children: Ester Thompson (Richard), Peter Guerrero (Lori), Terry Guerrero (Gerald), Norma J. Guerrero (Roland Alvarado), Sandra L. Guerrero (Eddie), Robert Guerrero (Irene), Monica Chavez, and Juan Chavez (Phoebe); his brothers Camilo, Richard, Frank Guerrero (Maria); and his sisters Mercedes Barrientes (Lorenzo), Dolores Solis (Genaro), Lucy Rios (George), and Janie Silvas (Esther). Jesse was also the proud grandfather to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love and support.

Jesse is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Guerrero; his mother, Juanita Guerrero; his brother, Henry Sanchez; his daughter, Lucy Guerrero; and his sons, Jesse Jr. Guerrero and Henry Guerrero. Additionally, he mourned the loss of his granddaughter, Dominga Pesqueda.

Visitation and prayer services will be held at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South in San Antonio on August 24, 2024. The visitation will begin at 3:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 6:00 PM, concluding at 7:00 PM.

Jesse Luna Guerrero will be remembered fondly for his loving nature, unwavering support, and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him. His life serves as a testament to the importance of family, kindness, and the joy of laughter.
