Jesse Jacob Ray Hurd Sr.

JESSE JACOB RAY HURD, SR., 78, of 16900 Lakeview Court, Hagerstown, Maryland, died Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital.Born September 28, 1930 in Security, Maryland, he was the son of the late Elmer L. and Gladys P. Wentz Hurd, Sr.He and his wife owned and operated Jesse R. Hurd Painting for over 40 years. Previously he was a painter for Home Construction and G.M. Gehr Painting.He was a member of the Hagerstown East Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed by his wife and children.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Genevieve E. Hurd; three daughters, Belinda Mae Grove and husband Braden of Greencastle, PA, Rose Marie Wood and husband Steven of Hagerstown and Kitty Elizabeth Lynn and husband Cecil "Woody" of Hagerstown; two sons, Jesse R. Hurd, Jr. and wife Colleen of Martinsburg, WV and Wesley Cole Hurd, Sr. and wife Barb of Waynesboro, PA; six sisters, Gloria J. Hurd-Heard of York, PA, Kitty D. Kline of Clearspring, MD, Sandy L. Miller of Funkstown, MD, Nellie R. Sodergren of Hagerstown, Jenny L. Smith of Hagerstown and Dinah K. Palladino of Maugansville, MD; one brother, Elmer L. Hurd, Jr. of Hagerstown; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by one son, Lesley P.Hurd; one sister, Sharon B. Dibert; one brother, Roger G. Hurd`A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 1:00pm at Kingdom Hall at 30 Nottingham Road in Hagerstown with James Rivers officiating.There will be no viewing or visitation.The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to Jehovah's Witnesses.Arrangements are by the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Maryland.
