Jesse Moorer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Georgiana Memorial Funeral Home on Dec. 8, 2025.
The late Rev. Jesse Bob Moorer was born May 15, 1938, to the late Wilbert Moorer Sr. and Lila Caldwell in Georgiana Alabama.

Rev. Moorer confessed Christ at an early age and has spent a lifetime sharing Christ through the preached word and ministering through song. He will always be remembered for not only lifting the Savior through song, but through his ability to play instruments for the glory of God.

Rev. Moorer spent his early years in Alabama and later moved to Newark, New Jersey. During this time, he made a career of driving trucks and worked for Royal Foods and Shop-Rite.

Rev. Moorer married Edith Helen Hooks on Dec. 15,1956. They remained married until Edith death in May 1988. To this union five children were born, Virginia, Morris, Jennifer, Jesse Jr. and Monyetta.

Despite his professional vocation, he never lost his love for Christ and sharing the good news. To that end, he was the Pastor and founder of Voice Center Baptist Church. He relocated back to Georgiana, Al and united with Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Anthony Maye. There he served faithfully until his death. He was truly loved by both congregations as he led with compassion and a kind heart. He remained in Georgiana until his death.

Jesse was very close with his children, grandchildren and great grand.

He was predeceased by his wife Edith, mother and father, daughter Jennifer King, son Jesse Jr., brothers James and Wilbert Moorer, sisters Ruby, Catherine, Armazie, Arwilla, Margaret and Ellen Pearl.

Leaving to cherish his memories are daughters, Virginia Rock (TN), Monyetta Jones (CA); son, Morris Moorer; brother, Claude Moorer (Galena);8 grandchildren; Paul, Tiana Rock, Nakita Moorer, Shaundel King, Alicia Jackson, Macaela Latimere(Jerry), Shae Moorer and Mia Jones; 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
