Cecilia - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia for Jesse L. Schexnailder, 84, who passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehab Center.
A visitation will take place at the Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia on Saturday, May 24th from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
Rev. Joseph Brasseaux will officiate at the funeral service.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
He is survived by his companion of 21 years, Deanna Dupuis of Breaux Bridge; three daughters, Jessica (Ricky) Rodriguez of Geismar, Leslie (John) DeFeo of Baton Rouge, and Heidi Myers of Ft. Walton Beach; five grandchildren, Meagan, Katie, Julian, Carter and Emma; brother, Maurice Schexnailder Jr. and his wife, Norma; sister, Cynthia "Cindy" and her husband, Deacon Kenneth Soignier; brother-in-law, Curtis Knott; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Schexnailder and Beverly Schexnailder; and numerous nieces and nephews. Deanna's family became his family, as well: Mark, Colleen, Alexandra, and Ryan Welch; and Wes, Lisa, Zach, Nick, Alisha, and Ryker Dupuis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Schexnailder Sr. and the former Bunice Berard; brothers, Patrick Schexnailder, Frank Schexnailder and John L. Schexnailder; and sisters, Verna Yentzen, Judy Angelle, and Rose Knott.
The family would like to thank St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care that Jay received in his last days, especially Mr. Ricky Hayes and nurses Crystal and Tiffany. And thank you to his family and friends for visiting and for support. Also, thank you to Lafayette Amedisys, especially nurses Monica and Tilly.
