Jesse Leon Smith, 85, of Sterling, AK passed into his eternal home April 30, 2025 surrounded by his wife and children.

Leon was born on November 14, 1939 in Los Angeles, CA to Jesse Lee and Della Louise Smith. While in his youth, Leon's family moved around the Pacific Northwest, then they later made their way north to Alaska in 1966. Leon settled on the Kenai Peninsula as his permanent home in 1987.

Leon was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Sterling for over 35 years where he had been an active part of the men's ministry, music ministry, and numerous building/improvement projects over the years.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, an infant brother, wife, daughter, son-in-law, and stepson. He is survived by his wife Lois (Sherbahn Miller) Smith, 5 children, 4 stepchildren, 25 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis Smith and family of Texas. A celebration of life service will be held at the Sterling Abundant Life Church on Saturday, May 31st, 2025 at 11:00am, with Pastor Steve Harshman officiating.

Wow! Leon Smith!!! So many amazing memories! He would always shake my hand with his index finger folded in
It was a result of a joke I told him years ago about a man that shook his pastor's hand with his index foldedinand ask the pastor to pray for his "wart!" So glad he made it home!
