Jessica Kyle Borovina Smith, 42, gained her wings on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 2:14 p.m., with her loved ones by her side. Jess began her beautiful journey in Everett, Washington, on January 24, 1983, born to her parents, David and Julie Borovina, as their first daughter and the eldest of four children.
Jessica was preceded in death by her brother, Matt Borovina, and her father, David Borovina. She is survived by her mother, Julie (Jeff) Hanner; brother, Logan (Brandy) Hanner, and nephew Branson; sister, Bailey (Luke) Visser, nephew Garrett Visser; brother, Dan Borovina; sister, Katie (Roger) Candanoza, and nephews, Hunter and Owen Candanoza.
Jess married her husband, Dustin Kirk Smith, on August 6, 2005, in Arkansas. Through their marriage, she gained a daughter, Mattison (Cody) Johnson, and became a proud grandmother to Evie Johnson on October 30, 2023. Jessica and Dustin welcomed their son, Wyatt Smith, on May 20, 2010. Being a mother came naturally to Jess, and "Mom" was her favorite title.
Jess was warmly welcomed into the Smith, McNew, and many friends when she moved to Arkansas in 2005. She held a special place in the hearts of her in-laws, Kenny and Sheila Smith; her brother-in-law, Kyle (Sarah) Smith; and her nieces and nephews, Charlotte, Kase, Emmie, and Sutton Smith. Jess always had a special bond with babies and children-who all adored her in return.
If you knew Jess, you know she lived a selfless life, always caring for others-not just the little ones. She was quick-witted and full of life, yet calm and collected in the midst of chaos. Loving, compassionate, and generous with her time, Jess made everyone around her feel valued. She was a bright light whose warmth will forever shine in the memories of those blessed to have known her. Always positive, charismatic, and a wonderful Christian woman, Jessica Smith, you will be deeply missed by so many.
Doctors discovered that Jess had Type 1 Diabetes at the young age of 11. She became a passionate advocate for diabetes awareness, courageously facing the challenges of her illness and doing everything she could to maintain her health. Jess remained strong so she could continue her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. But our Heavenly Father had other plans when He called her home on Sunday afternoon.
A celebration of Jessica's life will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Belmont Chapel Church, 1 Lester Ln, Vilonia, AR 72173. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. and a Reception at 12:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Center Chapel Cemetery, Wilburn, AR. Family and friends are encouraged to wear bright colors in honor of Jessica's vibrant spirit.
