Jessie Ruth Bruner Alday, 80, of Moultrie, died on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Colquitt Senior Care.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born on December 31, 1944, in Blakely, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Bruner and Jessie Lee Calloway Bruner. She dedicated her life to caring for her home and those she loved most.
Jessie Ruth found her greatest joy in the beauty of the outdoors. She loved soaking up the sunshine, tending to her flowers and plants, and finding delight in the simple wonders of nature, especially frogs and blooming gardens. Her gentle spirit and love for life’s simple pleasures touched everyone who knew her. She was of the Baptist faith. Her life reflected the words of Ruth 2:20: “May he be blessed by the Lord, whose kindness has not forsaken the living or the dead.” Jessie Ruth’s kindness and love will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sam Alday; brothers, Ben Bruner, Don Bruner, and Ronnie Bruner; sisters, Sara Nash, Ethel Bruner, Virginia Robinson, and Brenda Bruner; and her beloved dog, Baby.
She is survived by her children, David McMillan and wife Mickey, Charles Cook, Christopher McMillan, and Debra Phillips; grandchildren, Tiffany Swilley, D.J. Dollar, Sarah Dollar, Jessica Brown, Becky Elkins, Allison McMillan, Reality Cook, Hunter Cook, and Memphis Cook; sisters, Anna Hall, and Fay Anderson; and several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
