Jessie L. “Elmo” Russell, age 68, a resident of Morton, MS, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Born November 20, 1954 in Mt Olive, MS, Elmo has lived most of his life in the Morton area. Elmo was a hard worker, he worked at BC Rogers for many years and for a propane company until his health forced him to retire.
Some hobbies that Elmo enjoyed were camping, hunting, fishing and he was also a big fan of drag racing. His family was most important to him and spending time with them brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary Coley Hill; sisters, Ellaween Moore and Ruth Jones, and grandson Axel Russell. He is survived by his wife of thirty plus years, Cathy Porter Russell; two children, daughter, Shelly (Shane) Reeves, son, Matthew (Brittney) Russell; sister, Sally (James) Jones, brother, Michael L. (Edna) Coley, two grandchildren, Katelyn Lowry, (Brandon), Rachel Hughes; three great-grandchildren, Calvin and Skyla Hughes, and Katie Lowry.
Visitation for Elmo will be on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS, Sunday, 1:00pm to 2:50pm with the Funeral Service at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Ott and Lee of Morton, MS. Interment will follow in Morton Memorial Gardens.
Funeral Services are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS.
