Jetty Pauline Gibson Hutcherson peacefully entered the presence of her Savior on June 7, 2025, while at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Jetty was born in Columbus, NC in Polk County on June 8, 1931, to parents John Calhoun Gibson and Mary Louise McGinn Gibson. Jetty loved her brothers and sisters – Charlie, Ruby, Ed, Bob, Mary and identical twin sister, Betty. Jetty and Betty were so “identical,” even at times, the family could not tell them apart.
Jetty was married to the late Jack Hutcherson on November 25, 1951. Jetty and Jack were born on the same day, the same year and in the same town of Columbus, NC. They both graduated from Tryon High School in Tryon, NC. Jetty attended Blanton’s Business College and worked at Hatch Mill as an administrative assistant. Following a move to Raleigh, NC, and later to Hillsborough, NC for Jack’s work with NCNB, Jetty worked for Blue Cross, Blue Shield. She later enjoyed serving as the switch board operator for Orange County Offices and was called “the Voice of Orange County” in an Orange County News article.
Jetty and Jack raised four children: Jack, Jr. (Barbara), Christa Warise (Ken), Jim (Elizabeth), and Kathryn Ammons (Phillip). They had seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jetty loved being involved in the local church, having grown up attending church and taking her children to church from the time they were babies. Her quiet but steady faith in her Lord and Savior formed the foundation of her life. She was known for her friendliness, her acceptance and love of all people, her joy in life, her humor (often mischievous), and her love of coffee.
A Celebration of Jetty’s life will be held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel on Wednesday, July 16th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Paul Mullen and Rev. Christa Warise officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to West Side Baptist Church, 595 S. Peace Haven Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The loving support provided for Jetty and the family by Trinity Elms and the Hospice Home is greatly appreciated.
