Jewel Ann Young (Harvey), age 74, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, in Saratoga, Wyoming, surrounded by her beloved husband and two sons. Born on February 22, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas, Jewel lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by love, family, and numerous accomplishments.

Jewel's professional journey began as an airline hostess for Braniff Airways. Her career expanded as she took on significant roles including CEO and CFO of Guadeloupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, and later became the owner and operator of White Bison Ranch in Fort Steele, Wyoming. She also owned the High Country Home Gift Shop in Saratoga, Wyoming, alongside her responsibilities at CCC Ent. Trucking Company in Rawlins, Wyoming. Throughout her varied career, Jewel displayed remarkable leadership and dedication.

An alumna of Wyandotte High School, Jewel graduated in 1969 and pursued her passion for architecture at Kansas State University from 1970 to 1973. Her intellect was evident, as she was a proud member of MENSA, celebrated for her high IQ. Jewel was also a Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority member in college and actively engaged in organizations such as PEO, Soroptimist, and Job's Daughters.

Family was the cornerstone of Jewel’s life. She and her husband, Charles Chester Young, MD, began their love story as teenagers when they met in high school and started dating at the ages of 16 and 17. Their bond flourished, culminating in a beautiful marriage on July 13, 1974, marking 51 years of loved shared together. Jewel took immense pride in her sons' achievements. Coleman H. Young earned a Ph.D. from the University of Wyoming and was nearing his graduation from medical school at Pacific Northwest University. Her son Charles "C.J." Young II, who attained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law, and is preparing to commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Jewel's warmth and caring nature extended beyond her immediate family. She loved children, was outgoing, and relished engaging conversations with others. Known for her festive spirit, she adored Christmas and would transform her home into a winter wonderland, often putting up seven beautifully themed trees, along with Santas, garlands, and miniature Christmas villages. The magic of Christmas morning was a treasured time for her family, especially the children who experienced her joyful celebrations.

In her leisure time, Jewel found pleasure in reading, history, and decorating. Her appreciation for life encompassed her love for animals, particularly her dogs and cats, as well as her favorite films, which included heartwarming Christmas tales and classic Westerns.

Jewel Ann Young's legacy continues through her loved ones. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles Chester Young, MD; her cherished sons, Charles "C.J." Young II and Coleman H. Young; her brother, Billey Harvey, and sister-in-law, Gloria Harvey; her brother, Robert Young, and sister-in-law, Debbie Young; her sister, Carrol Harvey; her sister-in-law, Ann Wilson; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Harvey and Norma Harvey.

While Jewel lived a full and love-filled life, she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Her spirit remains alive in the cherished memories she leaves behind.
