JILL FISCUS Obituary

JILL FISCUS 07/07/1959 - 06/28/2025 Jill Fiscus, 65, Russiaville, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at IU North Hospital in Carmel. She was born July 7, 1959, in Tipton to Weldon Max and Beverly Ann (Smith) Retherford. On April 30, 1983, she married Alan Dale Fiscus at the West Street Christian Church in Tipton and he survives. Jill grew up in the town of Windfall and loved to spend time on her grandparent's farm just east of Windfall. She truly loved the outdoors and always had a soft spot in her heart for animals. She was a 1977 graduate of Tri-Central High School where she was active in sports and cheer block and maintained many lifelong friendships from those days. After high school, she went on to earn an associate's degree in fashion merchandising and a second associate's degree in computer aided design. She spent most of her working career as a dental surgeon's assistant helping to pay college tuition for her children. She met her future husband in high school and they dated on and off throughout high school but eventually became more committed to each other when they reunited at their 5-year high school reunion and married the following year. They established their new home in Kokomo. Jill and her husband moved to different cities and countries as she made sacrifices to support her husband's career. In 1985 they moved to Brownsville, Texas and decided to grow their family. Their first son was born there in 1988 and a second son in 1991. Eventually they relocated to Russiaville in 1996. After their children were grown, they moved for a few years to Krakow, Poland in 2015. Through all of the moves and transitions, Jill was the rock of the family who stayed home with the kids and provided them with a loving, safe, and fun environment. The family was truly blessed by her desire to be a good wife, mother, grandmother and counselor for husband, children and grandchildren. She was very fond of her grandchildren. Also, she was a very devoted master to her many pet dogs, cats and a few farm animals over the years. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for the gift of everlasting life. She professed this again as she was near the end of her life on earth even as her body was ravaged by her illness and the associated medical treatments. Jill and her family have been blessed with enormous support from family and friends during her recent illness. The family wants to thank the community for their prayers and well wishes during this time. Additionally, we want to recognize the doctors and nurses at IU North Hospital and the Schwarz Cancer Center for their excellent care and advice during Jill's illness. In addition to her husband Alan, survivors include her children, Eric Michael (Miranda) Fiscus, Lafayette; Evan Andrew (Sabrina) Fiscus, Kokomo; grandchildren, Arthur Graham Fiscus, Ava Lynn Fiscus, brother Barry (Cathy) Retherford, The Villages, FL; mother-in-law Patricia Fiscus, Sharpsville; brother-in-law Barry (Alicia) Fiscus, Norwell, MA; Sister-in-law Lynn (John) Jurney, Carmel; brother-in-law Brad (Shelly) Fiscus, Fort Washington, MD and many nieces and nephews on both sides of her family. Jill was preceded in death by her parents; and father-in-law Donald Robert Fiscus. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home, 216 W. Jefferson St., Tipton with Pastor Jeff Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharpsville Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Jill's memory to the American Cancer Society.
