Jill Linsz Obituary

Jill Joan Linsz, of Evans City, beloved sister, aunt, and friend to many, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022. She was born Feb. 5, 1959, in Ithaca, N.Y., a daughter of the late Ralph and Joan (Kubilus) Linsz. Jill graduated from Seton Hill College in 1981, earning her Bachelor of Music with a major in voice. She loved working with children and music. Jill was an elementary music teacher for one year at Hampton School District and went on to teach at Pine Richland for 34 years until her retirement in 2016. During that time, she served multiple times as a president of the teachers union, the Pine Richland Education Association (PREA). She was honored with the Western Regions Friend of Education Award. Jill also taught private piano lessons for many years and loved mentoring students of music. Jill was an active 42-year member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She was a 40-plus-year chancel choir member and a featured soloist. Jill also served as director of children's music in the church. At one time, she had also been the choir director for Bakerstown Presbyterian Church. In retirement, she found a love of gardening and her rescue dog, Rusty. Surviving are her sisters, Joy Linsz (Gary Smith) and Judy Ross (JR); niece, Allison Barry (Patrick); great-nephew, Malcolm James Barry; and faithful companion, Rusty. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, in First Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main St., Greensburg. KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dr. Edgar S. Highberger Memorial Music Fund, First Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601. Jill taught voice at Fulton Piano and Organ while I was in sales there in Greensburg. I enjoyed her so much. May she rest in peace

We are neighbors of Jill's and Rusty's and just heard through a neighbor of Jill's passing. We are truly shocked and so very saddened to hear of her passing. The last time I spoke with Jill she was feeling well and was happy to be able to get out and walk the neighborhood.
Jill always had treats for our dog Wheezy and we so enjoyed chatting with her. We will miss seeing the two of them. Jill was so very attached to Rusty and had worked so hard to help him adjust to his new pampered and must loved life; it makes me sad to think how lost he must feel. The two of them will be sorely missed.
I know you took great care of Jill while she was alive, and that you will do so now. With heartfelt sympathy.
Mary, Mark, and Wheezy
