Jill Scialla, age 103, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Simsbury, CT. Jill was born in Bridgeport, CT, on December 2, 1921, daughter of the late Francis Xavier Scialla and Olympia Russo Scialla. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Marie Buydos, Violet Scialla, Luise Tucker and a brother Dr. Michael Scialla. Jill is survived by her niece Jane Texira and her husband Daniel Texira, nephew John Buydos, niece Janelle Scialla, nephew Christopher Tucker and great grandniece Meghan Texira and several great nieces and nephews. Beloved Aunt Jill was one of the few executive career women of her day. She completed Jordan Marsh's Executive Buyer's program in Boston as a young woman. She became a buyer for six of D. M. Read's Department Store's teen and girl's departments in Connecticut and New York. Eventually, Read's became Jordan Marsh, now Macy's. In addition to traveling to each store, she commuted weekly to New York's garment district which was recognized as Fashion Avenue. She was very proud to be recognized by Women's Wear Daily. In retirement, she delighted her family with magnificent gourmet dinners which she prepared herself. Her fashion style and home decorating were impeccable. She was elegant, sophisticated, kind and generous. Many who got to know Jill in her later years, often commented that she was a joy to know. She will be missed. Funeral services will be private. Entombment will follow in St. Monica Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT.
