FALL BRANCH - Jim McConnell, 92 of Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 1, 2025 at his home. Born in Kingsport, he had resided in Fall Branch since 1978. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a paratrooper in 82nd Airborne. Jim retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol in 1990 and as a security guard from the Social Security Administration in 2008. Jim was a member of the Johnson Lodge #274 F&AM. He also was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jane McConnell; son-in-law, Gary Taylor; and brother, Tom McConnell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Faye McConnell; daughter, Linne Taylor; son, Al McConnell; grandchildren, Whitney Taylor, Mallory Allen and husband Andrew, Aly Ward; great-grandchildren, Rylie, Hudson, Millie, Turner, Asher and Cash; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A small committal service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lisa Bryant and Rev. Ryan Shelton officiating.
