Jim Nancy Riggs Obituary

James Alvin "Jim" Riggs and Nancy Elizabeth Riggs, both of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

Jim was born on July 25, 1937 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Lloyd and Mabel Riggs. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed spending time giving back to his community and served as a Mason. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, Papaw, and great-grandfather. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Riggs.

Nancy was born May 30, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Warner and Helen Polston. Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Mamaw, and great-grandmother. She was a director with Mary Kay Cosmetics for several years and enjoyed spending time crafting. Nancy and Jim loved attending the Shepherdsville Country Music shows and were avid Elvis Presley fans. Along with her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her son, John Samuel Church.

Jim and Nancy are survived by their loving family, children, Neala (Henry) Livers, Tina (Brian) Walker, Laura (Terry) Simons; grandchildren, Amanda (Simon) Groft, Brian (Brittany) Walker, Matthew (Stacy) Livers, Andrew (Whitney) Livers, Ashley (Brandon) Miller, Katie (Brandon) Steele; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Maci, Maverick, Zoey, Allie, Fiona, Ivy, Gavin, Hannah, and little Jack. Jim is also survived by his brother, Lee (Nancy) Riggs, sister, Dorothy Tish. Nancy is also survived by her brothers, Larry (Barbara) Polston, Gary Polston; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish their loving memory forever.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of their lives will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home. Jim and Nancy will be laid to rest together privately at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions in honor of Jim and Nancy be made to the Kosair Shiner's or St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
