Jim Allen Wood, a Levy Legend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 21, 2025. He is survived by his loving and loyal wife of 57 years, Nedra Dumas Wood and his children Ritchie Wood (Selina), Kevin Wood (Lisa), Kraig Wood (Shawna), Gabriel Bond (Will), and Bubba Wood (Brandy). He also had eleven grandchildren who lovingly called him Big Jim- Grayson, Addie Kate, Cy, Elliott, Marlee, Zack, Devin, Josh, Jake, Lauren, Brandon and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Nolah Wood of Levy, Arkansas, brothers Haskell and Carthel, sisters Betty and Dorothy. He is survived by one sister, Connie Cox of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
A long time electrician who never backed down from a bar fight he found his greatest happiness driving the “Nedra, Gabriel, Bubba” boat on Lake Ouachita, having a beer around his well-kept pool with his Parkhill neighbors and friends, driving his lawn mower with or without a grandkid on his lap, and spending days on Lakewood Lake teaching his grandkids to fish. Always the funny guy, he showed his countless friends how much he loved them with his elaborate practical jokes.
His one request in his preplanned visitation was that everyone wear blue jeans to Smith Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, AR 72114 on October 25, 2025 10:00am – 12:00pm. He would never want anyone to go out of their way to do anything for him, so go enjoy a Miller Lite, watch a sunset on a lake, or take a kid fishing in his honor.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakewood Health and Rehab for taking good care of Jim Allen and also Nedra as she sat religiously by his side every day. Jim Allen thought flowers were an impractical purchase, so please consider instead a donation to your favorite charity.
